Seen the new videos from the upcoming Star Wars: Force Unleashed already?
Compared to the Euphoria animated Stormtroopers, the Apprentice just seem so… videogame-y. I suppose he has to use “choppy” animations which cancel each other so player inputs feel snappy.
But than again, there’s Altaïr, so it can be better.
So far the Force abilities look cool, but I’m not so much impressed by the fighting, and the Apprentice looks like a metrosexual, skinhead-version of Anakin “God-what-have-I-done?-but-OK-lemme-turn-evil” Skywalker.
I’m not exactly sure what you mean, maybe you could embed the video in question?
I find all the animations generally very video-game’y. Especially the very stupid three-hit combo they seem to use again and again. The effects are cool but seem to wear out rather quickly.
I didn’t even notice any Euphoria effects. What do they do? You mean this kind of behavior?
yc,
the whole move does, quality wise speaking, look and feel a lot like those cheap (american) barbie etc. 3d childrens tv animations.
i bet, the kids do like the movie A LOT because auf the cool style and animations – to me it looks very jerky, everything simply auto generated (droids jumping out of the sky, landing on ground – no human animation or hand tweaking, simply an ik + physics rigid body system – *bah*).
did you have a look on the first videos for the new prince of persia … i think that looks great.
btw: the worst acting i’ve seen by hyden christensen is in jumper (and i basically like the movie). his voice acting is so inapropriate: in one scene his girl slaps him in the face because he seems to have fainted and “awaking” he says “uh, oh” – sound to display he is just waking up by her slaping him … its so stupidly bad acting =)
Daniel: I think you mixed up the new Clone Wars Movie with Force Unleashed. Two different things.
And Euphoria is actually pretty neat. Check out this a bit more in-depth presentation of the project.
yep i totally did
stupid me …
@leto
I just checked out this PoP trailer. There’s even an Okami scene at the end
The more prevalent ink effects and flatter rendering style are what I would have liked for Street Fighter 4, especially after that “inky” debut trailer. Also PoP seems to feature more secondary/ cloth animation which I’m missing in SF4. After SF3’s gorgeous animations, SF4 is a step back for me so far. Just look at the blocky legs of this SF4 Ryu (right before the match in the idle animation), then see Ryu in the SF3 glory.
To me it’s pretty clear that SF4 is more of a sequel to SF2. So that’s already getting its update and targeting the old audience. The HD remix for SF2 seems such a waste. They really should have updated Third Strike to HD instead.
@Krystian
You sure about the presentation? I thought you’d link to Torsten Reil: Using biology to make better animation.
@Yu-Chung
Yes, you are right. I ment this one. I could have posted the correct one right away but that would have been not nearly as confusing.
